About

Options, understood asstructure

αβΓ✻1 An educational simulator and analytics tool for options traders. It exists so that anyone curious about options — from a first-time learner to an experienced trader testing a new structure — can build a strategy, see its risk profile, and understand the math behind it before any money is at stake.

Reading the name

The name is written with Greek letters. Each one maps directly to a letter in the domain.

α
↔a
alpha · lowercase
β
↔b
beta · lowercase
Γ
↔g
Gamma · uppercase
Why the Greek letters

α, β, Γ — along with Δ, Θ, ν — are the Greek letters traders use to describe how an options position behaves: sensitivity to price, to curvature, to time, to volatility. The name is a reminder of what we care about: the structure of risk, not the size of the win.

The Greek letters in the logotype aren't decoration. Delta for direction, Gamma for curvature, Theta for time decay, Vega for volatility sensitivity. Every options position you will ever take has a reading in each of these dimensions.

Too often options are presented as outcomes (profit, loss, ‘+500% trade') instead of as structures you can understand. The letters in our name are a reminder of what we care about: making the underlying mechanics legible, so a trader's first question is ‘what's the shape of my risk?' — not ‘how much can I make?'

  • +An analytics surface — backtests, equity curves, Sharpe and Sortino ratios, monthly heatmaps.
  • +A trade journal — for logging decisions, notes, and outcomes you can learn from.
What it is not
  • −Not a brokerage. We do not route orders to any exchange.
  • −Not a fund. We do not accept deposits or manage money on your behalf.
  • −Not an investment platform. Nothing in the product promises or implies returns.

Who built it

αβΓ✻1 Built by a small team of traders and engineers who wanted the simulator and curriculum they wished they'd had when they were learning. We work in the open, ship small improvements often, and treat every misunderstanding a user has as our own bug to fix.
